| Prepare Canada's 20-Hour Basics Class provides a wide array of mental, verbal, and physical strategies to keep yourself safe, and the opportunity to practice them in a safe, supportive environment. |
| The class is led by a female instructor. She will demonstrate each technique and will be by your side to coach and support you. |
| A male instructor will assist you as you practice, and will take the role of a mock assailant during simulations. He is are heavily padded so you can practice full-power on a real target without fear of harming yourself or the teacher. |
|
By the end of this Course, you will have learned how to:
• Increase your ability to stay safe. • Project self-confidence. • Trust your instincts. • Use your voice and words to make someone leave you alone. • Know if and when your words aren't working and what to do next. • Defend yourself from a surprise attack. • Fight if you are on the ground. • Defend yourself in a rape situation. • Know when someone you know might be a threat to you. • De-escalate a threatening or uncomfortable situation. • Ask for what you need from people in your day-to-day life. Learn more about how we teach the class. |
